Developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s, the Pomodoro technique is a time management method. After experimenting with this method for 2 days, I have found alot of its advantages as follows:

  • Time management
  • Focus
  • Accountability
  • Flexibility
  • Increased productivity
  • Reduced distractions
  • Improved motivation
  • Better work-life balance

It involves sectioning work into a concentrated, 25-minute block (referred to as “Pomodoro”), followed by a short rest, usually lasting five minutes. A lengthier rest of 15 to 30 minutes is taken after four blocks of Pomodoro.

I decided to formally utilize and record this technique while creating my superhero resume in the office because I had no work to do.

Block 1

Start working once the alarm is set. The distraction is mates gossiping, moving, and doing their chores around me. Obviously, social media is another big distraction.

After I heard the alarm going off, I immediately started checking my social media but later realized that this is not a suitable approach/rest.

Block 2

Breaktime has ended and starts working again after putting an alarm.

This time, I decided to provide serenity to my mind and eyes by giving a view of the busy road, trees, and sunlight.

Block 3

I had a more active and fresh mind compared to the last block, and the reason was rightly utilizing the break.

This was the time for my ears and mind to listen to a soothing voice. So for me, this can be no one other than Qari Abdul Rehman Mossad reciting Quran.

Block 4

Finally started this block with positive energy and happiness of being close to the end.

Here comes the big break with a big reward. Let’s play foosball and win with enthusiasm.

Calm down, the clock behind me doesn’t work and there is a lighting arrangement at the office but we like to play that way.

My Findings

The experiment is easy and even it helped me achieve the goal in a shorter time than expected.

Future Plans

I’ll adjust the working and resting intervals depending on the nature of the task. For example, a 10–15 break on the completion of a consistent, lengthy, and brain-draining block during a task. Furthermore, I’ll incorporate mindfulness practices during the breaks. This could involve taking a few deep breaths, stretching, or practicing meditation or visualization techniques. This can help to reduce stress and improve focus and concentration during the subsequent work interval. All these activities will boost my energy and prevent burnout.

Inculcating the idea to other fellows will open door for my learning as this will enable me to counter multiple experiences.

I’ll not only confine this technique to my academic or professional life, rather i am going to adopt this technique in personal life as well. Every task will be assigned priority on the basis of its importance, making me perform multitasking in the manageable segments, increase focus and productivity.
